Surf City Line: Taste the Magic of Coastal Flavors in Surf City, NC

First, the good. Food was delicious -basic, nothing fancy, but delicious. Next, the what in the heck…literally the slowest service we’ve ever experienced in life and we’re not young. We were one of two tables. My husband was able to leave, drop someone off, come back, and still not have the drink he ordered before he left. I’m not sure if our waitress doubled as the cook, bartender and cleaner or what -she was very nice but again, have never had slower service.

Our family of four discovered this restaurant accidentally and have repeatedly sought it out, year after year. Food really is good in all the ways that matter. They care. It’s an open kitchen and when we were seated we watched great care taken to garnishing one of the bowls prepping for service. Our waitress Rhylie was extremely helpful and pleasant. She suggested we enjoy our appetizer on their 3rd story observation deck. It was so magical that we decided to eat our whole meal up there. Rhylie continued to check on us and brought us our food up 3 flights of stairs and worked to accommodate our children. It’s rare we repeat meals when we only spend a week on vacation, because we want to squeeze in all the fun, but we break that rule for this restaurant. The picture is of the moon rising from their upper deck. We didn’t’ notice it until Rhylie pointed it out to us. Local live music sounded great too!

My wife has a gluten allergy and they were able to custom her order and even cleaned the grill before cooking. Above and beyond the call of duty! The Voodo tacos and street corn were excellent. Sit on the back deck, it's an outside beach them. I think on the top deck, you can see the ocean.

Great place!! We walked in for lunch. Everybody was really nice from the moment we enter the restaurant. Place was clean and inviting. Bar is nice. We had oysters to start with. They were fresh! Coronas perfectly cold. Then steak nachos and carne asada. The skirt steak was perfectly grilled. (Was too hungry to take pictures) Mathew was very attentive and checked on us on a timely manner. Will definitely be happy to come back. An ocean view patio is nice. Plenty of outdoor seating. Great great place!!! Cheers

They have the best chicken wings—you have to try them! Followed by crisp, spicy, delicious fries, and an outstanding chicken sandwich. The grouper bites were disappointingly small for the price. While the flavor was decent, the portion size didn’t feel justified given the cost. If you're looking for value, this dish might not be the best choice. An upgrade to larger portions or a more competitive price would make it worth ordering again.

This place always delivers! Amazing food, great atmosphere, awesome drinks. Sometimes there’s a wait, but anywhere you go on the island, you’re going to wait! So we don’t mind waiting with a drink in hand enjoying the live music. Riley was a great server and we will most definitely be back.

Great atmosphere and very clean. My server Sarah was excellent and well in tuned when it comes to customer service. Food was prepared quickly and served fresh off the grill.

We ate at Surf City Line For the first time yesterday evening. Such a vibrant and warm place. The food and drinks were excellent, the entertainment was amazing, and our waitress was so sweet and personable. I believe her name was Trinity (?). She was one of the waitresses outside on the lower deck. Loved her. We can’t wait to go back and try different things on the menu. I will say that the menu is on the smaller side, but what we ordered was fabulous. My only complaint was that we asked to sit outside and we were seated right in front of the stage. The music was incredibly loud and my husband and I could barely hear each other. Our waitress even had to ask us to repeat ourselves a few times. Obviously, we didn’t mind it when the performers were actually on stage. But when we first got there, it was just music coming from the speakers and it was quite loud. But really besides that it was a 10 out of 10 experience. Great place.
